Earth Day
Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First held on April 22, 1970, it now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by EarthDay.org, including 1 billion people in more than 193 countries. The official theme for 2022 is Invest In Our Planet.
NSS Units 135 and 237 of Government Polytechnic College observed the day by planting plantains in college garden. Smt. R Geethadevi , Principal GPTC Kalamassery explained the importance of the day and the relevance of observing the day and inaugurated the programme by planting one sword sucker with Kumari Anakha Vinayan, Volunteer secretary. The programme was under the guidance of Sri. Sreejith T K, Lecturer in Automobile engineering and winner of Young Farmer Awardee.
